Subject: frequency in English



A question that came into the library: what is the frequency

distribution of letters in the English language. I'd seen

that one before and could walk to a fairly decent answer.

Then I was asked, what about frequency distribution with

respect to the letter's position in the word. I suggested

rooting around in the area of cryptanalysis. Can anyone

point us to any specific source on this? Thanks.
