In response to Michael Farrell (mmfarr01[AT SYMBOL GOES HERE]morehead-st.edu), I could

equally well ask why the leader of Russia, or France, or Japan should

have to communicate her foreign policy in English. If the leader of

the US is speaking to the leader of a non-English-speaking country,

either one of them will have to use a language other than that of his

or her country, or they'll have to use translators. Why shouldn't the

United States elect a few multi-lingual leaders.



And yes, I think English is a fine _primary_ language for the United

States. But that doesn't mean it should be the only language we use:

Spanish, Navaho, Cherokee, French (to pick a few examples from among

our great wealth) are also good languages.
