Subject: Correction:Bigots, not Conservatives



Sorry, so many of the other emails had castigated conservatives

that I had them in my mind when replying to Ellen's message. However,

now that I think it over, it seems that many of the messages casting

scorn on those who do not support legislation mandating bilingualism

or who believe that the public affairs of the United States should be

conducted in English implied that the reasons for supporting such

positions are based in xenophobia which is, I believe, an emotion.



All supporters of bilingualism, of course, base their position on unim-

peachably solid, objective, unchallengeably _rational_ assumptions.
