A story in the Charlotte (NC) Observer last year explained that Charlotte

was the spam-capital of the universe in that more people either actually

ate Spam, or were willing to confess to such, than anywhere else. I do not

expect this thrilling tidbit to explain variation or isogloss shift, but

thought you'd want to know...
