Re Larry's comment that 'They budged' is not acceptable...



"They budged" is perfectly normal here in Madison, at least in the school

system. The first year my daughter was in school I tried to correct her on

this usage, but soon realized that all the kids in at least 3 schools here

use it, meaning they cut in front of us in line. I would have said "they

cut in", but now I also say "they budged".
