I'd like to suggest that the exclamation "Gordon Bennett" has survived so long

because it has the same feel as exclaiming "God Dammit", but without the onus

of using a Name in vain. Particularly if Gordon is prounounced as one

syllable, Gord'n.



I know my sweet old grandmother would have used it, had she known of it.
