Subject: Re: American accent: nasal
I just talked to my father this morning. He has a visitor from Germany
staying with him. According to my dad's German guest, he was taught
how to speak English over a period of 4 years. His instructor told
him that in order to learn English he should keep in mind that Americans
have a "chewing gum" way of speaking. I had never heard that one before
and have no idea of what it means. I wonder if nasal is better than
chewing gum.
