Anent 'parsley', sort of: I was quite surprised the first time I heard

"parse" with a voiced fricative, and attributed it to the speaker's

non-native and accented English. But I've heard it from native speakers

as well, so I have to suppose it's not idiosyncratic or a matter of accent.

(Besides, I knew that speaker in high school as well as currently.) These

are mostly researchers in speech, natural language processing, or

computer science.
