I definitely wouldn't want to interpret the Carville quote as a

singular address form either-- he's much too canny. If someone

appealed to you as the lone struggler out there fighting the good

fight, how likely would you be to send the money that is the whole

point of the request? Clearly he wants to contextualize the recipient

as one of the good-fighting gang who will prevail, and can only

prevail in fact, through mobilizing superior numbers. Now if that

ain't a plural...
