For example, in Star Trek, Dr. McCoy makes some crack about Spock, crew chuckles, end-of-show. He wonders, if, in scripts, they have a phrase for this, such ask "Cut to the gerplax" or "finish with a gerplax" where gerplax, of course is the stupid laugh everyone does &etc.?
