From Thursday, January 6, 2011, through Saturday, January 8, in Pittsburgh, the American Dialect Society will hold its annual meeting, hosted as usual by the Linguistic Society of America. HOTEL: This year it will be the Grand Pittsburgh Downtown Hotel, recently divorced from the Hilton chain, at 600 Commonwealth Place in Pittsburgh. REGISTRATION: As guests of the Linguistic Society, we must register with them. Thankfully, ADS members may preregister (deadline: December 20) at the LSA members’ rate, even if they are not LSA members: $140 for regular members, $60 for students, $70 for under-/unemployed.
